(2)
Access routes for fire department vehicles shall be provided and shall be not less than 9 m wide.
(3)
Hydrants shall be located in the access routes required in Sentence (2) so that
(a)
for a building provided with a fire department connection for a standpipe system or a sprinkler system,
(i)
a fire department pumper vehicle can be located adjacent to a hydrant, and
(ii)
the unobstructed path of travel for the firefighter from the vehicle to the fire department connection is not more than 45 m, and
(b)
for a building that is not sprinklered throughout, a fire department pumper vehicle can be located in the access route so that the unobstructed path of travel for the firefighter is not more than
(i)
45 m from the hydrant to the vehicle, and
(ii)
45 m from the vehicle to every opening in the building.
